The ADS RDX-150 is a cheap USB recording interface that I picked up from Geeks.com on 'Cyber Monday' for $13.99. It's cheap, self powered through USB and has decent specs. I sat down last night and recorded a few samples so you can judge for yourself on how it sounds.

I used my Rega P25 turntable, Zyx Omega G cartridge and Audio Research PH5 phono preamp, which was fed directly into the ADS RDX-150. I also used my Asus EEE 10" laptop (Intel Atom powered) and Reaper for the recording software. The original files were 48K/16bit, which I compressed to 320K MP3's for streaming purposes:

Brand X

Synergy - Delta 1

Synergy - Cords

Synergy - Rock

The first thing I noticed was this ADS RDX-150 has excellent bass response. The Burr Brown PCM 2902E really captures the fullness and punch of whatever you feed it.

The mid range is smooth and pleasant to listen to. The highs are very good, but not quite as extended and clean as my Presonus Inspire, but it's perfectly acceptable.

One negative about the device - you can't adjust the recording sensitivity of the input, you will need a way to control the signal strength from your source since there is no way to control the device's recording level with the software or through Windows device control.

I'm still testing and trying it, so the control could be hidden or require proprietary drivers to access.
