I was wondering if anyone has an opinion on the new Rega motor upgrade for their older model turntables, available from Rega for $225. Since I sold the Scoutmaster, I started to get the itch to do some upgrades to my P25. One of my biggest gripes about the stock P25 is the slightly faster platter speed. The Scoutmaster speed was dead on accurate, but my P25, even with an upgraded sub platter, still runs a bit fast. I'm not 100% sure if the motor upgrade will correct the speed issue, so I'm hesitant to spend the money unless I hear from someone who has tested it.Has anyone tried the upgrade yet? Would it be worth it to continue upgrading the P25, or just save my money and invest in a better turntable, say maybe a P7 or P9?

The motor on our P25's are 120v AC motors. The upgrade kit includes the newer 24V motor and allows us to upgrade to outboard power supplies, which we currently can't use.
My Rega runs fast with the stock motor. It's marked as a 60Hz, not 50Hz, so that's not the cause of the speed increase as some may suggest. I'm guessing the newer motor would be more accurate then the stock motor, especially when paired up with a TT-PSU power supply.
I noticed that you upgraded to a dual belt pulley - has the speed accuracy improved?

Apparently Lots of people are having trouble installing the new motor. Something to do with the double sided tape that won't hold the motor to the plinth. Sounds risky. I don't think I've read anything positive about it. Might have to google some more. I've also noticed more used P25's with the new motor for sale on Audiogon and ebay. Weird.. the only external PSu that I've seen for the P25 is the Heed Orbit and the Mose + Hercules on ebay. The dual belt gave me more slam and it just runs like butter.

I am considering the dual belt pulley on my P25. My thinking is, the extra belt would create just enough friction and torque loss to effectively slow down the platter enough to help correct my speed problem. Where did you buy yours from?
