Title: Apogee Rosetta AD 96K!
Post by: BSD2000 on December 13, 2012, 03:32:14 PM
It's here!  ;D

Wow.  :o  I didn't think there would be such a big improvement since I already thought the 48K model was amazing. Bumping the sampling rate to 96K really unleashed the potential of this unit; every aspect of the sound is much improved. Overall, everything sounds much more relaxed, refined and extended at both ends of the spectrum.

Here's a few samples:

Fleetwood Mac - 'Crystal' from the 45RPM reissue.
[smg id=422 type=av]

Earl Klugh - 'Jolanta' (MFSL)
[smg id=423 type=av]

These are raw files (down converted to 320K .mp3's), I didn't clean the records first and the back porch was 61 degrees, so it was a little chilly. My Zyx sounds a little reserved and 'tight' when it's cold.

What do ya think?  ;D

Give it a few hundred hours of break-in an it will reach its full potential.

I've got the same temperature in my music room, and while my Denon DL-110 cartridge seems not to mind, my power amp clearly suffers, and delivers less bass.
