on my main rig, i use a eickel anti static brush (carbon fibre brush) for years with good results.
It gets off the surface dust and does not harm the records.

i wanted to buy one for my secondary system, but  it seems most new ones are way too stiff.
You actually get very small scratches from using them. :(

any suggestions for a decent brush ?  (shouldn't break the bank either)

I use one of these:

Available from Amazon for $14.75.

The bristles are really soft and will not scratch the vinyl. It does a great job removing the dust from the grooves in between deep cleanings.

For records with a little more dust and dirt I use one of these:

Available from Amazon for $17.99

I wouldn't recommend the second brush on expensive & highly prized vinyl, but for cleaning second-hand vinyl it works great.

I use this one and it's very soft:

Avoid the "Monacor antistatic carbon fibre LP brush", it's stiff!

after a lot research and buying/trying 4 anti static brushes, i finally found one which works fine.

i think, its save to assume that all of the "2 row" brushes are produced at the same factory and only have different printing.
No matter if its a cheap one or a more expansive brand one, the markings on the plastic parts ( from the moulds used to create them) are exactly the same.
Quality control at this factory seems to be mediocre at best.
3 of my recently purchased brushes,  leave surface scratches on the record.
I read a lot of online reviews for all the brushes currently available, and i'm not the only one with this problem.

I don't know if the 4th brush leaves no scratches by mere luck, or due to the fact that it appears to be older stock.
