Car Audio anyone?

I was just wondering if anyone here is into car audio. Before I got back into vinyl records, I was really big into car audio with an emphasis on sound quality. For 5 or 6 years, it's was my obsession of sorts. I ended up blowing way to much money trying to achieve the 'perfect' sound quality, much of the time falling short of that goal.

I have a 1996 Chevrolet Camaro SS that is my testbed for car audio components. This is the my current equipment lineup:

  • Pioneer DEX-P9 head unit with a Pioneer DEQ-P9 controller
  • Sinfoni Amplitude 90.2x amplifier (90Wx2)
  • Zapco DC500.1 digital sub woofer amp
  • JL Audio 10W6 10" sub in a sealed custom fiberglass box
  • Apline F1 series SPX-Z18T 3-way speaker system
  • Kimber 4VS speaker wires
  • Wireworld Eclipse interconnect (DEQ-P9 to Sinfoni amp)

I also own a ton of car audio components (I should probably sell), including an original Butler 'Tube Driver Gold' amp, McIntosh MC440M 6 channel amp (with the cool blue meters), Dynaudio 240 GT component speakers, MB Quart QSD216 series speakers, a Planet Audio 4 channel tube amp (designed by Zed Audio), JL Audio XR series component speakers and a bunch more stuff. Some of the stuff I owned (at one time or another) but sold off: Focal Utopia speakers, Focal K2 component speakers, Morel Elate speakers, CDT Eurosport speakers, JL Audio XR component speakers, DLS Iridium component speakers, the newer silver Butler tube amps (nowhere near as good as the old gold series), various Hifonics amps, Phoenix Gold amps, various JL Audio amps, Monitor Audio amps, Diamond Audio component speakers, Infinity sub woofers, Alpine CDA-7998 head unit, Clarion DRX9255 head unit (should have kept it - great sounding unit) and a Clarion DXZ-815MP head unit.

I'm very happy with the system I have now - it sounds fantastic. The Alpine F1 speakers are amazing. The Sinfoni amp is punchy, super clean with very sweet highs. The Pioneer head unit uses sweet sounding - Burr Brown PCM1704 DACS and OPA2134 op-amps.

Since I rediscovered vinyl records, my interest in car audio has diminished, except when I take my Camaro out for a spin and enjoy the sound. 

Does anyone here have an interest in car audio?
