Title: Denon 103D Sample - MJ Thriller
Post by: BSD2000 on October 05, 2013, 03:35:18 AM
On a recent trip to the record shop, I found a decent copy of Michael Jackson's 'Thriller' as a 33rpm 12" single. The song is cut 'loud and hot' and my Zyx Omega-G had a hard time tracking the kick drum, so I thought I'd try my Denon DP-52F turntable with a DL-103D cartridge. The 103D had no problem tracking the kick drum without distorting.

Here's a sample:

Turntable    : Denon DP-52F
Cartridge: Denon DL-103D
Pre-amp: Audio Research PH5
Recorder: Korg MR-2000S

I haven't listened to the 103D in a while and I was surprised how nice it sounded.  :)
